Damn, I’m going to be soooo busy this month! Even though I’m missing Dragon*Con this year, I won’t be sitting at home feeling sorry for myself.

Friday evening there is the usual #evfn. This week we’re back at Studio 5C. It’s a nice little gallery type place with a great patio for socializing and it’s right off Mill Ave if we want to carry on for the rest of the night. Plus, lots of people I kind of know through podcasting (and some I really do know) are gathering this weekend for…

The Deadpan BBQ Saturday afternoon-evening at my friend CJ’s house. Those are always lots of fun, and with no kids around this time I’m pretty sure it’ll be even better than before. Sunday evening is another Deadpan party, this time at the Tempe Palms hotel.

Tuesday evening I’m helping someone set up their recording studio and Wednesday night is our usual Evo@11 recording at Gangplank. Friday (11th) I’m going to my friend Dani’s for another “Slumber Party.” This time it’s a different presenter so we’ll have to see if she’s as funny as the last one.

My Dad turns 73 on the 13th. I wish he didn’t live so far away. He called me today while I was at IKEA so I was a bit distracted, but I had the hardest time explaining to him how my cell phone number stayed the same even though I’d moved. He just doesn’t get it. He wanted my new address so I’m standing there in the middle of the stupid store practically yelling it out for everyone to jot down. I was one of *those* people!

There’s a Brand-X T-Shirt Tweetup the following Thursday night. I’m still debating that one.

On the 18th I’m joining friends for my very first major league baseball game at Chase Field. I’ve never been so I can’t pass up this chance. After that I’ll be going to my very first Rocky Horror Picture Show! Thanks to the light rail I won’t have to do a lot of driving as everything is on the rail.

Yet another Can’t Stop the Serenity showing on the 19th. I don’t care what anyone says, it never gets old. Plus there’s a sing-along to Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, so there!

And Kira’s 3rd Birthday is on the 29th. I don’t know what’s planned for that yet, but I’m sure we’ll do something. She’s excited. Practicing her three finger thing and asking where her birthday cake is already.

Busy, busy month and I’m sure there will be more adds to my calendar as I go along.

Plus that certain someone has said that September is a good possibility for a visit. We don’t communicate much so I’m not sure yet. Everything (except the slumber party) is something I could actually take him along and have fun. We’ll see.

_allecto_ says in a comment after her own man-hating (specifically Joss Whedon) diatribe:

I believe in the radical feminist definition of rape. That is that men who pressure women into sex are rapists. That women who are pressured are not freely consenting and are therefore being raped. There have been a few discussions recently in the rad fem blogosphere debating whether all male initiated sex is rape, given that women are politically, socially and economically subordinate to men. So, in my understanding of Joss Whedon as a rapist is hinges on my definition of rape. I would argue that most ‘sex’ between men and women, in the contemporary ‘sex-positive’, pornographic, male-supremacist culture, is rape.

So, I think Joss Whedon is a rapist because it is impossible for me to believe that a man who produces a show like Firefly,a man who openly objectifies women in his interviews, a man who based the character of Xander Harris (a pro-porn, sex-obsessed teenage male in Buffy) it is imposible for me to believe that this man does not pressure his wife for sex. If he has pressured his wife for sex even if she eventually consentedhe is still a rapist. I know far too many women who have been, and are being, forced, coerced, manipulated, pressured into sex that they do not want with their male partners. I’d bet anything that Joss is one of these men. And if he is then he is a rapist in my books.

Jesus H. Christ. I don’t even know where to begin!

Feminazis like this give women a bad name. Does she not see that her hatred of men colors everything she does? I’m pretty sure if you look with a large enough microscope you could turn any man into a “rapist.” I love how often and wrongly that word gets thrown around. Rape is a brutal act and to compare every heterosexual sexual encounter to rape is so ridiculous as to be laughable. Any legitimacy she might have about the television show characters goes down the drain. I’m sure she was talked into unsatisfactory sex at some point in her life and screamed rape at some poor unfortunate after. And then forever claimed to be a lesbian so she’d never have to have a relationship with a man again. She’s all bullshit. She’s discounting the experiences of women who have actually been raped and belittling the pain they have to live with for the rest of their lives.

Seriously, there are women in the world who actually *gasp* enjoy sex with men. And there are even women who play at being reluctant so their men will be a little forceful! Hell, there are some women who prefer getting fucked up against a wall as hard as they can get it. I’m sure there are even a couple of women out there that ZOMG like it in the . . .

I don’t know why I bother. The bitch is probably one of those militant dykes that even slutty lesbians won’t touch. Stupid cow. It just bothers me when someone who has never been raped goes around using that word about such mundane things. It’s a slap in the face to women who’ve actually suffered.

Shame on you _allecto_.

BTW: Zoe calls Mal “sir” because their relationship started out as a military relationship and she respects his leadership role enough to carry that forward. She’s not being raped by her husband considering she could kick his ass and she initiates their encounters as often as he does. Inara choses every encounter she has which means she’s not being raped. She’s more of a lady than _allecto_ could ever be. And Kaylee likes sex, but her relationship with Jayne and Mal are more familial and the banter is affectionate rather than controlling. Doesn’t _allecto_ have siblings? Siblings talk that way to each other all the time!

(I’m not responding on her LJ because I think a person has a right to their own opinion on their own LJ. Just as I have the right to tear it apart on mine. I’m not getting into a pissing contest with a group of self-congratulating men-haters on their own turf.)

Busy day, shopping, lots of driving, rain, rain, rain, finally home, stayed awake ’til 9, crashed.

But Ginnie and Talia had a midnight curfew and of course I wake up to be sure. Convenient that her dog barks when she comes home. And now I can’t get back to sleep.

What’s the deal with BPOI? Nobody’s posted all day! C’mon people. I’ve done exceptionally well not going back to that site-that-won’t-be-named, but I have to go somewhere.

I’m hungry?

Made an appointment for Ginnie with a Gyn. *sigh* More treading on eggshells with her father. Dude, she’s 16 and I’m getting her on some sort of protection. We already have one (adorable, wonderful, don’t get me wrong I love the crap out of her) grandchild we didn’t want.

Speaking of Buck. I’m so proud of him. He’s not fighting the whole can’t drive without a license thing. I’ve been driving him back and forth to work and he’s not gone out at night to play pool. He’s behaving very well. And that’s totally out of character. What we need to find out is exactly when his time is up. 90 days from the ticket, December 9th, which would be March 9th? Or if his case is dismissed on Feb 1st, does he get it back then? Dunno.

Yeah, I’m definitely hungry.

Going to the studio tomorrow. I stopped at the candy store this afternoon and have stuff to share. And apparently Evo has some sort of announcement. I’m totally guessing what that is and I’m not even a rocket scientist. He’s such a force of nature and I really like his wife, too. We’ll see if I’m right tomorrow.

Grrrrrrrroooowwwllll.

Casey reports that his tax return nets him quite a bunch. Enough to pay off a couple of fines and maybe swing a car. Here’s hoping that girl doesn’t blow through it before it can do them some good.

Both my Geeklabel.com order of t-shirts and my quantummechanix.com order of Alliance money are on their way!

Hmmm, midnight snack time.

Later gator.

There was the second Flanvention planned for last weekend in California. Apparently a week before, it was canceled and the Southern California Browncoats started organizing stand-by plans for those who still wanted to show up. Then the official one was back on, and the SoCa people were told thanks but no thanks.

Then people showed up to find out it was canceled. Like just a fucking “closed” sign on the doors. So the SoCa people ran around like banshees arranging some sort of group events, various celebrities (BDHs, Greg Edmundson, Mark Sheppard, etc.) showed up anyway to party with the fans and everyone still had some sort of fun. One actress and her husband opened their new restaurant a week early so the fans could eat there. Ron and Alan and some others weren’t even scheduled to attend and they still came in just for the fans. Gratis. Unpaid.

The Organizers (I will not link them as they’re assholes) apparently have taken partial credit in their forums though I haven’t heard anything saying what they did.

Is there any other fan community like the Browncoat community?

I don’t think so.

I know it’s only a TV show, but shit! The editing on that program is ridiculous. I wish there was a place to catch the unedited versions of those moments. Apparently the judges are clueless as to what goes on behind the scenes. Will his outright lying to their faces make a difference in what they do/don’t do for his future? And Heidi Klum sure wears the ugliest maternity clothes.

I entered a contest today. Wrote (eek, I wrote something!) an article for Firefly Talk. First place is the wrench Simon’s holding then drops when Kaylee snuggles up to his naked chest. *sigh* If you’re interested in reading it let me know. It’s titled My Dirty Little Secret.

Wow, Lost last night! Lots of Sawyer!Skin for my fantasies. Speaking of which . . .
